We are only on day 4 of December, and we’ve already seen shootings in Montreal that can be compared to some American cities!
Gun Violence in Montreal in December
First, there was a shooting in a downtown Montreal hotel room this morning, December 4, around 3:30 AM, not far from the old Montreal Forum. The 26-year-old man is now in critical condition, and the witnesses that were in the room are not cooperating. According to CBC News, the suspect got away on foot.
Secondly, there’s yesterday afternoon’s apparent road rage incident on Hwy 40 near Langelier Blvd. in Saint-Léonard, where a 23-year-old man was shot by another, according to CBC news. Although the victim was shot in the upper body, he wasn’t seriously injured. But, the guy that did the shooting is still out there. There are no suspects currently. Of course, the highway was shut down for the investigation, which caused massive traffic delays.

The third incident happened in Lachine on December 2, around 9:15 PM, where a 25-year-old man was shot in the upper body and was taken to hospital in serious condition.
The fourth shooting also happened on the same night, December 2, around midnight in Pointe-aux-Trembles. Also in serious condition, the 24-year-old man was rushed to hospital when he was found unconscious on the ground.
And of course, there are the December 1 the shootings in an east-end reception hall in Anjou that left one dead and three injured.
That’s a total of 5 separate shootings in Montreal in the first 4 days of December! And, that’s a total of 8 victims — 2 dead and 6 injured.
