WARNING! Lots of FREEZING RAIN to Hit Montreal Says Environment Canada

Environment Canada just issued a new weather statement that changes everything. The rain/snow precipitation forecast for Saturday will eventually turn to FREEZING RAIN in the evening, and it will likely be a significant amount.

These are the areas to be affected by the freezing rain on Saturday and Sunday, January 11 and 12, 2020:

  • Montreal Island area
  • Châteauguay – La Prairie area
  • Laval area
  • Longueuil – Varennes area

If that wasn’t enough to ruin your weekend plans, consider that they are also forecasting strong wind gusts of between 60 and 70 km/h on Sunday.

That means tree branches and power lines, already iced and heavy, could snap. Of course, if all this happens, we should prepare for power outages.

There’s still a bit of uncertainty at this point with the tracking of this system, so there’s hope that it will pass us by without any problems (fingers crossed). .
