Shared Electric Scooters Banned From Montreal


Following a pilot project in Montreal last summer, dockless electric scooters are dead in the water.

The city found that there were way too many tickets issued to users of shared e-scooters for non-compliance with Montreal rules.

Everyone was getting in on the action, from Uber to Lime and Bird, each unleashing their electric scooters on the streets of the city last June.

The pilot project brought ride-sharing e-scooter services to the city in an effort to provide more types of environmentally-friendly transportation. But, with over 300 tickets issued over non-compliance, this mode of transportation is just not going to happen here.

E-scooters have also led to safety issues and caused other problems with pedestrians and cyclists.
