On the hunt for the ideal beaches close to Montreal? Here’s one or two to check out in Ste-Agathe-des-Monts.
This may be a surprise to some, but Lac des Sables Beach is actually2 beaches – Major Beach and Tessier Beach.
Major Beach / Plage Major
Major Beach is the largest of the two Lac des Sables beaches. Lifeguards watch over swimmers to ensure safety at this very popular organized beach that features free parking, bathrooms and outdoor showers, a snack bar and a picnic area complete with picnic tables, as well as fun stuff to do all season long.
You can rent kayaks, canoes, sail boards, and pedal boats to enjoy a multitude of water sports but also work up a sweat on the volley-ball court right on the beach. Plage Major, as it’s known in French, is located close to the Camping Sainte-Agathe.
Tessier Beach / Plage Tessier
The second, smaller Lac des Sables Beach is called Plage Tessier or Tessier Beach. This one you’ll find on rue Major. It’s quieter than Major Beach, so it’s a great place to get away from it all and enjoy a calm day in the Laurentians (Laurentides). Tessier Beach, though smaller in size, is a also an organized beach with lifeguards monitoring swimmers and all the other amenities featured in Major Beach.
Lac des Sables
As with most beaches, there is an admission fee. Also, residents and non-residents can buy season passes to save lots of money, if they’ll be headed out to the beaches often enough.
