Don’t miss this one Montreal landmark called La Joute because it’s more than just a landmark, it puts on a show!
Montreal is known for its many beautiful outdoor spaces and when the summer comes around, much of our time is spent enjoying these spots. There’s one spot you need to put at the top of your list, if you haven’t visited already, and that is Place Jean-Paul-Riopelle.
This public space in the Quartier international de Montreal is everything you’d imagine and is an ideal spot for a stroll with a visiting friend or lover. The thing that sets Place Jean-Paul-Riopelle apart is La Joute.
La Joute Created by Montreal-Born Artist
La Joute is a sculptural installation by Quebec artist Jean-Paul Riopelle. It may look like a standard fountain at first glance, but this fountain holds a secret for the night.
From the middle of May, this fountain will perform a 35-minute show of smoke and fire each night.
Make sure you make your way to Place Jean-Paul-Riopelle at least one evening for the La Joute fire show. here will be 6 shows each night, beginning at 5:30 PM.
