Since the beginning of the pandemic, Canadians have been scrambling to find hand sanitizers. Unfortunately, at first, they were difficult to come by. The number one brand, Purell, seemed to have disappeared, but lots of others made their way on the market. And, now Health Canada hand sanitizers recall list includes 51 products!
But are they safe?
In some cases, NO, they are not safe. In fact, Health Canada has now recalled many hand sanitizers.
Some of these are made with unauthorized ingredients which could pose a health risk — ethanol or de-naturants.
The alert reads, “Possible adverse reactions to the ingredients in these products may include dermatitis, such as skin irritation and cracking; eye irritation; upper respiratory system irritation; and headaches.”
Originally, the list of recalled hand sanitizers stood at 20 in July and is continuously updated.
