Although announced in June that the Canada/US border would reopen around July 22, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is not committing to that date as the situation in the United States is worsening by the day.
In fact, everyday in the US they continue to break their own records with regards to new COVID-19 cases.
“Every month we have been able to extend the border closures to all but essential goods and services, and those discussions are ongoing with the United States right now, as we are a week from the next deadline for closures.”
He also said that he and President Trump, with whom he has spoken about the closure, are monitoring the rapidly evolving situation on the ground.
We expect to hear later in the week what will happen with reopening the border. The goal of the government is to ensure the safety of Canadians while keeping the economies flowing.
